In 2011, Howey landed a prominent role as Kevin Ball on the critically acclaimed series “Shameless.” His portrayal of the unpredictable and sometimes troubled character garnered praise from critics and audiences alike. “Shameless” became one of the most successful shows of his career, running for 11 seasons and solidifying Howey’s status as a talented actor.

Howey’s journey from living on a boat as a child to accumulating wealth through acting is nothing short of inspiring. He took advantage of every opportunity that came his way and persevered through difficult times to make a name for himself in Hollywood. As he rightly put it while speaking with CBS, “I didn’t take this easy road that was paved for me…I did it my own way.”

The Rise and Challenges of Actor Steve Howey’s Net Worth

Steve Howey started his high school years in the suburbs, where he attended junior high and most of senior high school. His family then moved to Denver, where he graduated from Green Mountain High. It was there that Howey realized his potential in basketball, which prompted his father Bill to look into getting him a college scholarship for the sport. However, after being given a basketball scholarship to Northeastern Junior College in Colorado, Howey found out he wasn’t cut out for the amount of work needed to stay in shape and be competitive.

That’s when Howey turned his attention towards acting. With his parents as acting coaches, it provided him with invaluable support at an early stage of his career. Although it wasn’t always easy having them as coaches, they guided him without judgment and helped him find a path that led to success.

Howey’s first professional acting job was guest-starring on “ER” in 1994 but went on to land other roles in various productions. However, it was his role as Van Montgomery in “Reba” that put him on the map. Despite the fact that it was not a moneymaking job due to low salaries offered by production houses at the time, Howey persevered and soon landed a major role on Showtime’s “Shameless.”

Playing Kevin in “Shameless,” Howey appeared on one of Showtime’s longest-running original scripted series ever for 134 episodes. While he couldn’t earn what William H Macy made per episode ($350k), reports suggest that he earned about $100k per episode which boosted his salary and overall net worth considerably. Additionally, several other TV series have contributed towards increasing his net worth over time.

Unfortunately for Howie, some of this net worth has been put at peril by legal issues over back wages relating to his children’s nanny, wrongful termination and harassment issues. This lawsuit potentially threatened to subtract a significant sum from the actor’s overall net worth but was dismissed ultimately. The former “Shameless” star has also faced issues following his divorce from Sarah Shahi in 2021, with complications around community property division and back taxes owning added more uncertainty about his financial future.

Despite all this, Steve Howey’s talents continue to triumph as he keeps appearing on small screens across the country. While there could be further bumps in the road ahead for him financially in the years to come, it wouldn’t be surprising if he managed to overcome them given his resilience thus far.
